How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when using a scissor lift, as the convenience of working and the lift basket's security gives peace of mind while trying to carry out tasks that would have otherwise required utilizing the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the right alternative for completing tasks from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted inside the lift's base. These batteries have to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This can be done without any particular equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
The machine has to be positioned next to an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place should also be in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button located near the charger or the control box, inside the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, older units will have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be sure to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. In order to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger could likely occur.
