Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage areas tidy and to stock up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck can be used. The reach truck is available in several models: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The simplest type is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This particular version has telescopic forks designed to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not only slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in many directions. This model is ideal in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Usually more than one kind of reach truck is needed in warehouses. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities utilize various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to operate and can maximize available storage space while increasing production.
