Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are big industrial machinery designed with a straight boom arm that is extendable. The boom is typically located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are typically utilized for jobs that require tasks to be carried out at heights which exceed other types of lifts. For example, employees can carry out exterior renovations or repairs on medium sized buildings but using these lifts rather than having the extra work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift bucket normally just holds a single worker. These buckets are more suited to specific tasks like for instance electrical repair, rather than general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available with both indoor and outdoor tires and come in gas or electric configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Under the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the equipment gets its name. When the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. Because these types of machinery must be directly positioned beneath the work site, compared to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
The scissor lift normally has a bigger platform that enables the operator to control the lift to access a bigger work area once the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these types of equipment, since they must sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are ideal for being utilized for window installation or cladding, because they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a great alternative for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The boom truck or cherry picker refers to the utility vehicle often utilized to lift workers for various jobs performed at heights. Generally, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and controls the equipment. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand as well as an actuator arm for lifting the boom and a winch for lifting.
Boom trucks take workers to heights that would usually be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to raise heavy materials or equipment from one location to another. There are various kinds of cranes which could perform a variety of purposes. Both of these different types of machines excel at various jobs and are great for particular applications and accomplishing particular jobs.
