The lift truck is an essential piece of machinery in most businesses which operate warehouses, distribution centers, storage handling and industrial plants. This great machinery, the forklift is made of various components, like the important carriage, the engine, the power source and the wheels. Forklifts normally have various kinds of attachments as well. The following are several of the most important forklift components.
Lift Truck Engine - the lift truck is made with a power source at the rear of the machinery. Various kinds of lift trucks have various kinds of engine that need varying power sources. For instance, a lift truck with an IC engine can have any of the following as its power source: diesel, gasoline, LP gas or CNG gas. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Frame of The Truck - the base of the lift truck and the most important of all the lift truck parts is the truck frame. This forms the equipment's core. All other forklift components are attached to the base, like the counterweight, overhead guard, mast, wheels and axles. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks can also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Lift Truck Parts - the counterweight is what enables the machine to be balanced while carrying heavy cargo. This part is made of heavy cast iron and is connected to the backend of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. In an electric forklift, the heavy lead-acid battery provides balance and may function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this part is where the operator sits and drives the machine. Several lift trucks have a cab area that is open to the air and some have closed cabs. There are really many components located within the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such important components like the pedals, seats, levers, switches, steering wheel and operator controls. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
