Hazards of Type-G forklifts
Forklifts carry out an important role in the operations of warehouses and other businesses. These equipment are capable of lifting and transporting immense loads from one place to another. There are many variations on the forklift. The primary variation is the way in which various kinds of forklifts are fueled. "LP" lift trucks are the most common type. They use liquid propane. Type "E" forklifts run on electricity and have large rechargeable batteries. Type "D" lift trucks are powered by diesel and type "G" use gasoline. Though all kinds of forklifts, similar to any piece of heavy equipment, could pose a hazard, the kind of forklifts that are powered by gasoline carry the most risks.
Fire
Forklifts labelled type G can present a fire hazard. Gas lift trucks are not made with the same rigorous standards. Gas leaks are the biggest cause of fire due mostly to gas leaks and also escaped gas fumes. This can result from normal wear and from mishaps or driving on extremely rough terrain. These circumstances pose a danger and could cause fire. Therefore, a typical Type G forklift must never be used in conditions where elevated fire risk is deemed unacceptable. Like for example, these kinds of forklifts should not be used around hazardous or explosive chemicals.
Explosion
Type G forklifts also pose a danger of explosion, as do those that operate on liquid propane and diesel. A kind of lift truck which operate on gasoline could explode as a result of a serious accident in circumstances where an ignition source and a gasoline leak are present. An explosion could occur when sparks are created in the collision and the sparks ignite the gasoline.
Fumes and Exhaust
Due to toxic fumes, the gas lift truck does pose a risk for inhalation, that could be deadly in higher concentrations. Fumes can result from gasoline leaks or from the exhaust itself. Therefore, a Type G forklift is really not recommended for any environment which is poorly ventilated. The exhaust would present a serious danger in enclosed spaces. This type of lift truck must be utilized with care when operated near individuals.
